Have you ever felt that God was giving you more than you could handle?
That’s how I felt when my mother-in-law died. It was so heartbreaking to watch her suffer, and at the same time, try to be supportive and plan for her young family.
It was difficult to know how to help the rest of her family, since I had never been around young children. There were times that I felt lost and yet comforted that she had confided in me certain things that needed to be done for the children.
There were times when I was angry; however, I learned quickly and had a supportive husband or I wouldn’t have been able to do it. I still wonder why God would take such a wonderful mother at such a young age. I learned a lot about being a good wife and mother from her.
Since I became a GriefShare facilitator, I’ve seen how important it is for a person to have support during the trying times that death brings on. The Estacada GriefShare group provides the opportunity for those who have suffered losses to gather in a safe place. The meetings are informational, with a video presentation followed by discussion. Participants may share their feelings and experiences, knowing that everything said is strictly confidential.
GriefShare is a support group for those who have lost a close friend or loved one. Our intention is to help people turn their mourning into acceptance and the joy that can remain in their lives. We regularly meet at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 29275 S.E. Eagle Creek Road, in Estacada, on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. We are also willing to be flexible in order to accommodate different schedules. For more information, call 503-630-5484.
