Book Nook needs volunteers
Estacada Library Foundation’s Book Nook, corner of 3rd and Main, seeking volunteers to work at store on Thursdays. Retail experience not necessary, but helpful; four-hour time block preferred. Church seeks donations for food basket program
St. Aloysius and St. Vincent DePaul in Estacada are seeking food donations for the Community Basket Program. Donations are needed to support the program with distribution on the first and third Tuesday of every month from noon to 2 p.m. at St. Aloysius. Food and cash donations can be made at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 295 S. Broadway. Canned and packaged goods may be left in the big blue barrel in the carport at 297 N. Broadway across from St. Aloysius Catholic Church. It's marked "SOUPER FRIENDS."
School supply donations wanted
The Estacada Area Food Bank, 200 S.W. Club House Drive, is accepting school supply donations to help students prepare for the 2009-10 school year. In addition, retailers Office Depot and Target give a cash bonus to Estacada schools when customers shop at the stores. Customers must mention one of Estacada’s schools at the time of purchase for the school to receive credit. Foundation launches EHS alumni association
The Estacada Community Foundation has initiated plans to establish an Estacada High School alumni association to mark the 100th anniversary of the first graduating class in 1910. The purpose of the alumni association is to encourage ongoing alumni interest and support for the pursuit of educational excellence at EHS. Proposed plans include developing a searchable database of alumni, archives, history (centennial book), and website. Engraved bricks for sale to support Veterans Memorial
Engraved bricks are available for purchase to support the Estacada Veterans Memorial and help build a wall honoring local veterans. Order forms are available at Estacada True Value, Estacada City Hall, and Viewpoint Restaurant and Grocery. The bricks are $50 each.
Mayor Becky Arnold was first to support the memorial. “I think the Estacada Veterans Memorial is a great asset to the city," Arnold said. “I’m proud to have my daughter’s name up there, along with other Estacada-area veterans.”

Pet food donations wanted at food bank
The Estacada Area Food Bank is still in need of donated pet food for dogs and cats. Dry or canned pet food can be donated at Estacada Junior High School, 500 N.E. Main St.; the Book Nook, 303 N.E. Main St.; or the Estacada Area Food Bank, 200 S.W. Club House Drive. For more information, call 503-630-2888.
City Hall collecting used printer cartridges
Estacada City Hall collects used printer cartridges all year to raise money for Relay for Life. Drop off cartridges at Estacada City Hall, 475 S.E. Main, or contact Tracy Hovda at 503-630-8270 x201 or at Hovda@cityofestacada.org.
Two-dollar Tuesday lunch at ECC
The Estacada Community Center hosts Two-dollar Tuesdays, serving a soup and sandwich lunch at noon each Tuesday for $2. The ECC also serves breakfast each Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. for $3, and dinner on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. for $7. Meals served by the ECC are open to all ages in the community. Foundation seeks flatbed trailer for parades
The Estacada Community Foundation is looking for a flatbed trailer to be donated and used as a float in parades. For more information, call 503-630-4483.
Group adds donation drop box in Estacada
Volunteers of America Oregon has added a donation drop box to the Estacada community. The new donation drop box is located in the parking lot at Whispering Pines Senior Village, 525 N.W. 6th Ave. Acceptable donations include gently used clothing, shoes, and household items. Furniture is not currently being accepted.
Blue Heaven Riding Academy seeks volunteers
The Blue Heaven Therapeutic Riding Academy is seeking quality volunteers to work with horses and disabled riders.
