Melvin “Mel” Lemond Abbott Jr., 37, a resident of Bellingham, Wash., died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the home of his sister in Dallas, Ore.
He was born in the Woodland Park Hospital in Portland, Ore., on April 25, 1972, the son of Melvin Lemond and Barbara Mae Gerard Abbott.
Mel grew up in Eagle Creek, Ore., and graduated from Estacada High School. He worked for Boeing Aircraft as an aircraft test technician in Everett, Wash. He was very artistic and loved his work with Boeing. He also enjoyed creative writing and airplanes.
He is survived by his children, Emily Abbott, Eli Abbott and special daughter of the heart, Elizibeth Humphrey, all of Estacada; his mother, Barbara Abbott of Bellingham, Wash.; sisters Irene Boswell of Dallas and Jacqueline Strickland of Clackamas, Ore.; uncle William Gerard and his wife Sheryl of Sedro Woolley, Wash.; aunt Florence Tallmon of Estacada; three nieces, two nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Eagle Creek Grange, 24491 S.E. Eagle Creek Road, with a potluck to follow.
