Oregon State Police detectives are investigating the death of a 43-year-old Southwest Portland man who was found dead at Milo McIver State Park near the lower boat ramp on Thursday.
Investigators believe the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Jan. 21, 2010, at approximately 12:15 p.m., a hiker found a deceased male at McIver State Park in the area of the lower boat ramp west parking lot. After the hiker notified park personnel, OSP troopers and detectives responded to the scene.
The investigation is continuing with the help of the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office.
A handgun was found near the man, and his vehicle was in the parking lot.
