Estacada Area Arts Commission meets tonight

The Estacada Area Arts Commission meets tonight at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. The meeting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the public is always welcome.

Winter formal boutique Jan. 6

SAFACT is holding their boutique for winter formal today, Jan. 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the high school commons. There will be dresses, shoes and accessories for sale. Proceeds fromthe sale will go to benefit SAFACT for the Class of 2010's drug- and alcohol-free senior all-night party.

‘Catholics Returning Home’ to start this evening

St. Aloysius Catholic Church will conduct an ongoing series called “Catholics Returning Home” on six consecutive Wednesdays starting tonight at 7 p.m. at the St. Aloysius Parish Education Center, 297 N. Broadway. These sessions are for non-practicing Catholics who are seeking answers to questions about returning to the Church. There will be informal sharing and an update of the Catholic faith. Estacada City Council to meet Jan. 11

The Estacada City Council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St., at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

Square dance lessons start tomorrow in Boring

The Country Cut-Ups are offering square dance lessons, starting on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Boring Barn, 13987 S.E. Richey Road, Boring, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5 per person, first lesson free. Pre-register by phone or e-mail: call Michael or Penny at 503-663-3263.

Free hot lunch offered at St. Aloysius twice a month

St. Vincent Mobile Café serves a free hot lunch on the first and third Tuesday of every month, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 297 N. Broadway. The Mobile Café’s next visit is on Jan. 19. For more information, call 503-630-2416.

Student work shown at Spiral Gallery this month

Artwork from students of all ages will be the featured artists at The Spiral Gallery for the month of January. Artworks presented range from ceramics and oil paintings to works on paper and sculpture. The Spiral Gallery is located at 341 S. Broadway in downtown Estacada. District hosts special services parent night Jan. 20

The Estacada School District will host a meeting on Jan. 20 beginning at 7 p.m. at River Mill Elementary to discuss special services. A representative from Columbia Regional will present information on Autism Spectrum disorder and associated disabilities. Estacada Little League 2010 Registration now open

Registration for Estacada Little League will be open until Feb. 28 for Minors and above and March 21 for T-ball and Farmball. For information or to register online, go to estacadalittleleague.com.

Whispering Pines needs firewood for community room

Whispering Pines Senior Village, 525 N.W. 6th St., is looking for donated firewood, as the furnace in their community room broke down and they aren’t able to get it fixed right away.

Party wear needed for SAFACT fundraiser

SAFACT needs gently-used dresses, ties, purses, shoes and jewelry for their fund-raising semi-formal-formal boutique to be held just after Christmas, which will benefit the drug-and-alcohol-free senior all-night party for the graduating class at Estacada High School. Donations are tax-deductible; items will be sold to local teens for reasonable prices. Drop donations off at the EHS main office or call Liz Davidson at 503-630-2980.

Church seeks donations for food basket program

St. Aloysius and St. Vincent DePaul in Estacada are seeking food donations for the Community Basket Program. Donations are needed to support the program with distribution on the first and third Tuesday of every month from noon to 2 p.m. at St. Aloysius. Food and cash donations can be made at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 295 S. Broadway. Canned and packaged goods may be left in the big blue barrel in the carport at 297 N. Broadway across from St. Aloysius Catholic Church. It's marked "SOUPER FRIENDS."

Women’s services available every Thursday

Clackamas Women’s Services has been providing support services and resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Clackamas County for 24 years. They are offering outreach hours in Estacada on Thursdays. On the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, outreach is

available at the Library from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. On the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, outreach is available at the Community Center from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Drop-ins welcome. At this time we are not offering group on Thursday nights. Survivors in the Estacada area may be eligible for additional resources such as gas vouchers, and gift cards. Please contact April M. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings weekly

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday at 7 p.m. and every Friday at 8 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 297 N.W. Broadway.

Timberlake Job Corps looking for community projects

The staff and students at Timberlake Job Corps Center are involved in the “Make a Difference” program. Some centers participate in the program once a year. Timberlake wants to be involved year-round. The Make a Difference program gives the students an opportunity to help local communities in a variety of ways—community projects or individual projects. If you or your company have a project (maybe landscaping or special project help), or if you know of an individual who needs help, please contact Warren at Timberlake. Two-dollar Tuesday lunch at ECC

The Estacada Community Center hosts Two-dollar Tuesdays, serving a soup and sandwich lunch at noon each Tuesday for $2. The ECC also serves breakfast each Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. for $3, and dinner on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. for $7. Meals served by the ECC are open to all ages in the community. Overeaters Anonymous group every Saturday

Infant, toddler playgroup meets twice a week

The playgroup at the Estacada Public Library meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. Parents with infants and toddlers ages newborn to five years are invited to attend; in the Flora Room at the library, 825 N.W.
