Lee Abbett passed away at his home Nov. 15, 2009, surrounded by family. He was 69.
Born in Troy, Kan., Lee was the oldest of six brothers and sisters. He grew up in the St. Joseph, Mo. area where he met his wife Karen; they married Nov 10, 1961.
They moved to Oregon in 1964 and made their home in the Eagle Creek area where he and Karen raised their four children. Lee worked as a diesel mechanic for United Grocers and retired after 20 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, auto mechanics, camping and family gatherings.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Alden Abbett, and sons Roland “Lee” Abbett, Jr. and William “Paul” Abbett.
He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Julie Retterer, son James Abbett, daughter in-law Shauna Abbett, son in-law Randy Retterer, mother Irene Keck and grandchildren Brandon and Christopher Retterer, Samuel and Cheyenne Abbett and Dillen Abbett.
The family hosted a memorial service for him on Nov. 20 at Sandy Funeral Home, followed by interment at Forrester cemetery.
