Salem resident Marian Marie Rapp died Oct. 29, 2009, from complications of a stroke, with her family by her side. She was 72.

She was born in Grass Valley, Calif., to George Galetto and Jessie (Trudgeon) Galetto. Marian grew up in Rough and Ready, Calif. She graduated from Gridley High School in 1954.

In October 1954, Marian met her future husband, Milton Rapp. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1955, in Sparks, Nev. They made their home in Marysville, Calif., for a several years prior to moving to Willamina, Ore., where they raised their family. Over the years, Marian and Milt also lived in Sheridan, Ore., and McMinnville, Ore.

As her children grew, Marian spent many volunteer hours at the Willamina Library, and her home was a welcome place to many of her children's friends.
