EHS Drama Club performs “Anything Goes” this weekend
The Estacada High School Drama Department recreates the antics on a jazz-and-romance-filled ocean liner voyage in the Cole Porter musical “Anything Goes,” Nov. 19-21, beginning at 7:30 p.m. nightly at the Estacada Auditorium, 500 N. Elaine Leatham’s “A Touch of Class Experience” stages music review Saturday
This Saturday, dancer/choreographer Elaine Leatham’s “A Touch of Class Experience” takes the stage for “A Musical Review,” a fundraiser for the Estacada Area Food Bank, with dinner at 6 p.m. and show at 7 p.m. Tickets for both dinner and show: adults, $20; seniors, $18; students, $15; youth 6-11, $5; under 6 free. Food bank in need of pet food
The Estacada Area Food Bank is out of pet food and needs your donation. Drop off any dry or canned dog or cat food at the Food Bank, 200 S.W. Club Drive, on Tuesdays or Fridays, at the Estacada Junior High School, 500 N. Main St. Monday through Friday, or at the Estacada Library Foundation Book Nook, 303 N.E. Main St., any time it is open. Adopt a family for the holidays
Your or your company can adopt a local family in desperate need of primarily basic household items and winter clothing. Families are primarily obtained through school recommendations and the Estacada Food Bank. Adopt-a-Family is a confidential program. Those who want to adopt would receive the first name, ages and requested needs, then buy some, or all, of the requested needs, wrap them, and deliver them upstairs to Estacada Community Center, Dec. 17, noon to 7 p.m. For further information, or to sign up to be a sponsor, call Janet Kiger-Hellard at 503-630-7433.
Food Bank can help families this season
The Estacada Area Food Bank has several opportunities to help local families that are having a tough time right now. Adopt-a-family is available to all Food Bank clients. Presents donated by local families will be provided. Fill out form and deliver to the Food Bank by December 1. Toys for Tots: Each child in family will be presented with wrapped present suitable for age. Fill out and deliver form to Food Bank by December 15. Christmas Dinner Food Boxes: All food needed for large family Christmas dinner will be provided to anyone in need. No application is necessary. Food boxes available December 19 between noon and 2pm. Cub Scouts selling wreaths, trees for summer camp

‘How to cook a turkey’ kids contest
Estacada News is sponsoring a contest open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Send us your instructions, recipes and tips for cooking a turkey and preparing a Thanksgiving feast for family and friends by Nov. 17. Spiral Gallery to sponsor student show
The Spiral Gallery is pleased to once again announce our Student Art Show. This annual event will take place in January 2010 and is an opportunity to showcase local artists of all ages (young or older) who are currently enrolled in school, an arts class or apprenticeship program. If you have artwork you would like to submit, applications are at the gallery and on our website: www.thespiralgallery.com. Items can be dropped off and forms filled out during regular business hours: Tues — Sat, 11 — 6 pm and Sunday, 12 — 4 pm. Timberlake Job Corps want to Make a Difference
The staff and students at Timberlake Job Corps Center are involved in the “Make a Difference” program. Some centers participate in the program once a year. Timberlake wants to be involved year-round. The Make a Difference program gives the students an opportunity to help local communities in a variety of ways–community projects or individual projects. Festival of Choirs needs community choir singers
All community members who enjoy singing selections from Handel's 'The Messiah" are urged to participate in the16th Annual Estacada Christmas Festival of Choirs, directed by Edith Cameron. Voices for all sections — soprano, alto, tenor and bass — are needed. Rehearsals for community choir began November 7 at 7 p.m., Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 30498 S.E. Eagle Creek Road. Festival of Choirs will be Dec. 12 at 7 p.m., at the Estacada Auditorium, 500 N. Main St. Choirs from the Estacada area are encouraged to participate, and audience members are encouraged to sing "The Hallelujah Chorus" with the choir on the night of the festival. Volunteers wanted for disability services advisory council
The Clackamas County Disability Services Advisory Council is seeking up to nine volunteers to serve for two-year terms to review and make recommendations regarding Medicaid policy and procedures as it relates to people with disabilities. The council works to protect, restore and improve a comprehensive service delivery system for Clackamas County residents with disabilities. It meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Department of Human Services office, 211 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. Estacada High School placing ads in gym for fundraising
The Estacada High School Athletic Department is selling advertisements to place in the gym for one year. A 2-foot by 8-foot advertisement is only $1000. Funds go toward maintaining facilities, new equipment, etc. Current priority is a new scoreboard. It is a great way to advertise your business while showing support for our local athletes. River Mill Elementary launches flamingo fundraiser
The River Mill PTA needs your support. The PTA is currently sponsoring a Flamingo Invasion fundraiser. If flamingos appear on your lawn, you may either pay $3 removal fee, join River Mill PTA for $10, pay removal and purchase flamingo insurance, which is $2/month or $12/school year so you are not invaded again. Video project looking for veterans
Becky Ginsbach is searching for veterans willing to share their war stories on video. These stories will be included in an upcoming DVD production "Heroes’ Reflections," produced and directed by Ginsbach. The video is part of a series that will include veterans’ stories of past and present, intended to preserve history and keep the stories available for future generations. The first two DVDs will focus on WWII Veterans, beginning with D-day and Pearl Harbor heroes. Ginsbach hopes to have the complete series available in one to two years. There is a need for new foster parents, particularly for teens and sibling groups. Women’s support group Thursdays at ECC
Clackamas Women’s Services has been providing support services and resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Clackamas County for 24 years. CWS is now offering an education, support and personal growth group for women affected by domestic or sexual violence. The group is held each Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Estacada Community Center at no cost to participants. Drop-ins are welcome. Estacada Heroes seeking names of local military personnel, veterans
Estacada Heroes is in need of assistance from the community in collecting the names of any Estacada Area Veterans, past, present, or currently serving in a branch of the U.S. military.
If you are from the Estacada Area and are a current member of the US military or an honorably discharged Veteran, please submit your name, rank, branch of service, dates of service, conflicts served in if any, and contact information.

Church seeks donations for food basket program
St. Aloysius and St. Vincent DePaul in Estacada are seeking food donations for the Community Basket Program. Donations are needed to support the program with distribution on the first and third Tuesday of every month from noon to 2 p.m. at St. Aloysius. Food and cash donations can be made at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 295 S. Broadway. Canned and packaged goods may be left in the big blue barrel in the carport at 297 N. Broadway across from St. Aloysius Catholic Church. It's marked "SOUPER FRIENDS."
Foundation launches EHS alumni association
The Estacada Community Foundation has initiated plans to establish an Estacada High School alumni association to mark the 100th anniversary of the first graduating class in 1910. The purpose of the alumni association is to encourage ongoing alumni interest and support for the pursuit of educational excellence at EHS. Proposed plans include developing a searchable database of alumni, archives, history (centennial book), and website. Engraved bricks for sale to support Veterans Memorial
Engraved bricks are available for purchase to support the Estacada Veterans Memorial and help build a wall honoring local veterans. Order forms are available at Estacada True Value, Estacada City Hall, and Viewpoint Restaurant and Grocery. The bricks are $50 each.
Mayor Becky Arnold was first to support the memorial. “I think the Estacada Veterans Memorial is a great asset to the city," Arnold said. “I’m proud to have my daughter’s name up there, along with other Estacada-area veterans.”

Two-dollar Tuesday lunch at ECC
The Estacada Community Center hosts Two-dollar Tuesdays, serving a soup and sandwich lunch at noon each Tuesday for $2. The ECC also serves breakfast each Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. for $3, and dinner on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. for $7. Meals served by the ECC are open to all ages in the community. Group adds donation drop box in Estacada
Volunteers of America Oregon has added a donation drop box to the Estacada community. The new donation drop box is located in the parking lot at Whispering Pines Senior Village, 525 N.W. 6th Ave. Acceptable donations include gently used clothing, shoes, and household items. Furniture is not currently being accepted.
